Jake McKeon
Coconut Bowls
In 2015, Jake was travelling around the world and witnessing plastic covered shores across the US, Central America, Europe and Indonesia. Walking the streets in Bali, Jake spotted a local man carve, polish and paint discarded coconut shells to resell them as souvenirs to tourists. He was captured by the bowl shape and saw a solution for everyday usage, replacing unsustainable bowls and single use plastics. After wild early success, Jake was famously a guest on Shark Tank where the panel were blown away by the pure creative simplicity of his idea. Fast forward to today, Jake is at the helm of a sustainable revolution dedicated to inspiring his community to live regeneratively.

The Village Markets - Pioneering cultural experience
Sarah and Marissa met working as Marketing professionals and started developing their dream, The Village Markets, while working full time for 3 years. In 2011, the duo quit their day jobs to grow their thriving market event into an all encompassing community for creative entrepreneurs. Fast forward 13 years - and now five children under 10 between them - The Village Markets are an iconic boutique market and community held at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, providing online resources for creative small businesses in the form of their Virtual Village and with event expansion on the horizon.
The event, fondly known as TVM, showcases a curated boutique lineup of fashion, vintage, art, homewares, design, live music, recycled Rack Sales and food stalls, whilst pioneering the space in sustainable events. Celebrating creativity and a healthy community is at the heart of their organisation, whilst also championing recycling, waste management and sustainability.
Recap March 13th - Sustainable Lifestyle
Invitation to Custodianship with Nidala Barker
Our blue bird afternoon began with a environmentalist, sustainability advocate and singer-song writer Nidala Barker inviting us to rest into a place of connection with the land. She shared her story and the responsibility we each share in reconciliation culturally and in reconnecting to nature. You can see more of Nidala’s beautiful work here.
We explored the philosophy and practical steps to sustainable lifestyle choices
Our incredible panel of speakers included Kate Nelson, author and Environmentalist, Jaye Leigo-Holmes (Head of RTW at Outland Denim) and Nina Karnikowski (Travel Author). We heard their person stories and ‘ah-ha’ moments and how they use there everyday and larger lifestyle choices to move the conversation, contribute to green business and live their regenerative journey with the planet. The full panel will be available on the blog here.
We feasted on plants
with Adam Guthrie and Ok Wines
The table came to life with fresh organic produce and incredible flavour as chef Adam Guthrie treated us to a feast. Adam is the founder of the I Feel Good program and he discussed the impact of eating a plant-based diet in reducing the environmental cost of our plate. The maestro’s at OK Wines treated us to tasting of local Australian natural wines. The table was singing with conversation, and we only packed up when the sun settled down.
Special Guest- Adam Guthrie
Chef and Founder ‘I Feel Good’ Program
Adam Guthrie’s work is as interesting off the dining plate as it is on. Adam is a professionally qualified chef, certified in plant-based nutrition and founder of the I Feel Good program. At the frightening age of 39, pursuing what he then considered success, Adam suffered a heart attack. This life changing experience led Adam to a complete health and lifestyle change. Using physical activity and a plant-based diet, he is now the picture of wellbeing having even completed an Ironman Triathlon since his recovery. Adam uses his own success, evidence-based nutrition and his mastery flavour to help others in their journey to holistic health.
